Photo Essay: Adelaide Zoo

by Adam Axon on August 27, 2010

One of the best things about going to a Zoo is the fantastic photo opportunities you are presented with. Whilst not quite as thrilling as capturing a brilliant snapshot of an Animal in the wild, a quality Zoo photo can still be rewarding for a photographer.

With this in mind I took along my trusty Canon 350D to my recent visit to the Adelaide Zoo. The aim? To set about capturing the best photos I could manage! The snaps below are some of the better results from that hard day’s work behind the lens!

Enjoy! :-D

Funi on the move

1.) Funi put on a good show for everyone! She has a really vibrant personality :-D

Alligator

2.) This Alligator didn't move an inch. I almost began to think it was a statue!

Shut eye for the Lioness

3.) It's nap time, I managed to get some awesome shots of this beautiful Lioness!

Hippo 2

4.) Everytime I looked at a Hippo I automatically think of a Tank!

Wallaby

5.) No, this isn't a Kangaroo! It's a Rock Wallaby :-P

Portrait of a Giraffe

6.) I love the expression of the Giraffe in this shot. Is it indecision?

Kung Fu Panda

7.) Kung Fu Panda! Intruders Beware!

Emu Close Up

8.) This my friends is a Emu. A native Australia flightless bird, similar to an Ostrich

Portrait of a Meerkat

9.) I love this little guy, one of my favourite photos of the day!

Sea Kitten close up!

10.) Is it just me or does this Sea Kitten look unimpressed? :P

Majestic Lion

11.) A Lioness conveys such grace and majesty

Limur

12.) A Limur, the master of the vacant expression!

Colourful!

13.) Such vibrant colours, I was stoked to get this close to a Parrot :-)

The Funi Stare

14.) Now that's what you call a Panda Stare! Funi is transfixed on something!

Photo Essay: Atlas Mountains and Berber life

February 11, 2010

The Atlas Mountains offer a great example of  Moroccan countryside and traditional Berber lifestyles. Hiking through the mountains and having lunch with Berber villages ranks right up with my top experiences from my four month trip. I hope the photo essay below gives you a little bit of an insight into what my day was [...]

Photo Essay: ‘Everyday Life in Marrakech’

January 20, 2010

There are two sides to any major tourist city like Marrakech. One side is targeted purely at the incoming tourists. It’s in your face from the start. Easy to see, but hard to escape. The other side is every day life. Life as experienced by the locals. As a tourist it’s often difficult to find. [...]
