Photo Essay – The Cats of Marrakech

by Adam Axon on January 17, 2010

I’ve just returned from Marrakech and WOW what an experience! From the hectic pace of the Souks to the isolated beauty of the Atlas Mountains. Marrakech certainly ranks amongst the most rewarding and unique places I’ve ever had the pleasure to visit!

The other great news is that I’ve got bundles and bundles of things to write about and hundreds of photos to share! Whilst I go through the mammoth task of sorting through over 700 shots and writing draft articles I thought I’d give you a sneak peak of what’s ahead! Captures of some of Marrakech’s cutest inhabitants…….

Kitties! Marrakech is full of Cats, some stray, some domestic. So here it is, I present my first Moroccan photo essay – ‘The Cats of Marrakech’.

1. Our cute little 'Hostel' Kitten. He was very playful :-)

2. It's a street party for Cats!

3. This stray was hunting for food in a run down residential block

4. This picture doesn't capture it fully but this cat was huge!

5. This nice ginger stray was kind enough to pose for me!

6. Royal Strays! These cats were lucky enough to live in the Palais de la Bahia

7. Not all cats are so lucky though, this poor little Kitten was very ill :-(

8. This little fella had got on the Balcony waiting for food from Restaurant goers

9. He wasn't alone though! This older cat had the advantage of eating Pigeon, so she got the food!

10. Stalker Kitty.......

11. I canz hidz behind ze treez!

I hope you enjoyed the first sample of my Marrakech experience! I promise much more to come in the week ahead!

For now it’s Adéu,
Adam
